    What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medical practice that involves the insertion of very thin needles into specific points on the body. This technique is used to stimulate the flow of Qi (pronounced “chee”), which is considered the vital life force that circulates through pathways called meridians. The fundamental principle behind acupuncture is that by targeting these points, the balance and flow of Qi can be restored, promoting natural healing and well-being. Acupuncture is commonly used to alleviate various types of pain, including chronic pain, migraines, and arthritis. Additionally, it is employed to reduce stress, improve mental health, and support overall wellness.

Modern research suggests that acupuncture may trigger the release of endorphins and influence the nervous system, contributing to its therapeutic effects. Today, acupuncture is widely practiced and respected around the world for its holistic approach to health.

What’s the different between Acupuncture and Dry Needling?

Acupuncture and dry needling both involve the insertion of needles into specific parts of the body, but they differ significantly in practitioner training, needle placement, and usage.

Acupuncture, practiced for thousands of years, is based on the belief that our life energy, or qi, is connected to our health. It is used to treat various conditions throughout the entire body. Acupuncture practitioners undergo extensive training, often at the degree level, to provide a comprehensive and holistic view of the body.

In contrast, dry needling is a relatively new practice focused solely on treating pain by stimulating trigger points. It is most commonly performed by physiotherapists and is also offered at Bodylogics.

Our acupuncturists have undergone many years of training to ensure they can treat patients safely and effectively using acupuncture.
