Frozen Shoulder Treatment London - Physiotherapy, Osteopathy, Injury Rehabilitation specialists North London, Barnet and Whetstone

Frozen shoulder can be a debilitating condition and one in which activities of daily living are greatly affected. Understanding the condition and how to manage it is essential to successful outcomes. But what is frozen shoulder exactly? Many people believe it is a formation of excessive collagen fibres on the shoulder joint area and this leads to stiffness. But this theory has been disproven and it is now argued that muscle guarding plays a huge role in the restrictions of movement. The true answer is that we do not yet know EXACTLY what causes frozen shoulder but we are beginning to develop excellent management techniques which can help with your pain.
Here at Bodylogics we are on hand to help.

Frozen Shoulder treatment in Barnet, Whetstone and North London
Once identified it becomes easier to understand and manage. The key thing to consider with true Frozen Shoulder is that the condition can sometimes take between 9 months to 2 years to fully recover from. Does this mean you need to have weekly sessions? Of course not! We only want to see you when we need to see you. You will often be given a programme to follow at home and once this becomes easier we would then see you for the next stage of your management.

How can our Physiotherapists, Osteopaths or Sport Massage therapists help you?
The simple answer here though is that Physiotherapy, Osteopathy and Sports Massage can all help this condition by providing help and support in regaining movement and control whilst also helping to reduce pain and disability. Why not contact a member of our team to discuss how we can help.
Will I need a scan or surgery?
If the progress of your treatment is falling short of our expected progress then we would speak with you about the possibility of surgical intervention. This is where we would discuss the pro’s and con’s of such techniques and help you decide which pathway you feel would be best. We take great pride in the large numbers of patients who we manage to cure through conservative treatment but it is something to be aware of that not all patients get better.
Many people ask ‘well why do I not just go straight for surgery’? Whilst this does make sense from a logical perspective, surgical intervention is not always 100% guaranteed to work and once it has taken place there is no going back. We work very closely with London’s leading orthopaedic surgeons and together with them we have very successful outcomes when it comes to deciding who would benefit from surgical intervention. Please do speak with us though about this in your appointments and if necessary we can arrange for referral on to a surgeon of your choice.
