I was so pleased to find Gemma when I was looking for an acupuncturist. She is so professional and always greets you with a smile. I feel safe knowing that she is well qualified to do her job and she is able to answer my questions with confidence. I have not felt pressured into doing more sessions than needed and each time I have made an appointment I have been given time to relax and have been cared for without feeling rushed. I would highly recommend Gemma especially if it is your first time having acupuncture or if you are unsure about having a session.

I went to Veronica yesterday evening in agony, with inflammation and tightness in my neck and trapezius muscles which had stopped me turning my neck and left me in a lot of pain. Veronica gave me her time, energy, and her quality massage skills to support the issue, relieving tension in my back, and enabling me today to wake up with reduced pain, and gave me more turning range back in my neck, getting me mobile enough to drive again. I’ve been to body logic several times over the years, and care has always been positive :) worth the spend.

Working through my recovery from an ACL reconstruction and meniscus partial removal and repair. George Kyriacou at Bodylogics in Winchmore Hill has been great, built me a plan for my recovery and has been progressively increasing the exercises to build strength and stability, helping with a plan that allows me to do most of the exercises at home, really clear instructions and demo’s of the movements that have been tailored to my recovery needs. The knee is feeling stronger every week, thank you George!.

My pain has reduced significantly over the course of treatments, and I have little or no pain, anymore. I will continue my custom exercises to strengthen my tendons. I would highly recommend Bodylogics in treating tennis elbow pain.

I was concerned that I might need back surgery, but after having intense physio and following the exercise routine, I’ve turned the corner and feel in a much better place. I’ll be resuming light Golf very soon.

The Approach

What Is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a recognised system of manual healthcare that works with the structure and function of the body. Rather than focusing on a single painful spot in isolation, osteopaths consider how the whole body is moving and working, on the basis that pain in one area is often influenced by what is happening elsewhere.

Treatment is largely hands-on and may include techniques such as gentle joint movement, stretching, soft tissue work and manipulation, all selected to suit you and your particular problem.

In the UK, osteopathy is a regulated profession, and the title osteopath is protected by law. Only practitioners registered with the General Osteopathic Council, the statutory regulator established under the Osteopaths Act 1993, may call themselves an osteopath, which gives you confidence in the standard of care you receive.

How We Work

Our Four-Step Osteopathy Process

  1. Accurate Diagnosis

Recovery begins with understanding exactly what is happening within your body. During your appointment we carry out a detailed assessment of your symptoms, posture, movement and function, examining how your joints and muscles are working together. This allows us to reach a clear diagnosis and explain it to you in a way that makes sense.

  2. Understanding the Cause

Lasting relief comes from doing more than easing the area that hurts. We look closely at why your problem developed, so that we can address the factors behind it rather than simply settling the symptoms. This may involve assessing:

    • Posture and daily working habits
    • Previous injuries
    • Physical activity and training loads
    • Workplace and lifestyle demands
    • Movement patterns and areas of restriction
    • Strength and flexibility

By understanding the cause, we can help reduce the chance of your symptoms returning in the future.

  3. Defining Your Recovery Timeframe

Uncertainty about how long recovery will take is one of the most common worries patients describe. Based on your diagnosis, history and goals, we give you realistic guidance on what your recovery is likely to involve. While everyone responds differently, a clear sense of the timeframe lets you plan with confidence and track your progress as you go.

  4. Creating Your Personalised Treatment Plan

Every patient receives a treatment plan built around their individual needs. Depending on your diagnosis, your plan may include:

    • Hands-on osteopathic treatment
    • Joint mobilisation and manipulation
    • Soft tissue and stretching techniques
    • Cranial osteopathy where appropriate
    • Exercise and rehabilitation advice
    • Posture and self-management guidance

You will always understand where you are in your recovery and what the next steps will be.

What We Treat

What Can Osteopathy Help With?

Despite a common myth that osteopaths only treat the lower back, osteopathy can help with a wide range of musculoskeletal problems throughout the body. Conditions our osteopathy team regularly assesses and treats include:

  • Low back pain, including work-related and posture-related pain
  • Neck pain and stiffness
  • Shoulder pain and frozen shoulder
  • Hip, knee and ankle pain
  • Sciatica and nerve-related pain
  • Joint pain and arthritis-related discomfort
  • Headaches
  • Muscle strains and sports injuries
  • Tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow
  • Post-operative recovery
Gentle Technique

Cranial Osteopathy

We also offer cranial osteopathy, a gentle and subtle form of treatment that uses very light contact. It is a refined approach that some patients find particularly suited to them, and our team can advise whether it may be appropriate as part of your care.

Pregnancy Care

Osteopathy During Pregnancy

Pregnancy places considerable new demands on the body, and many expectant mothers experience aches and pains as a result, particularly in the lower and upper back. Our osteopaths have experience supporting patients through pregnancy, using gentle, appropriate techniques to help manage discomfort during this time.

Your First Visit

What Happens During Your First Osteopathy Appointment?

Your first appointment is designed to give you clarity and a clear way forward. We begin by talking through your symptoms, medical history, previous injuries, activity levels and your goals for treatment.

This is followed by a thorough physical assessment, examining your posture, movement, flexibility and the function of the affected area. Where appropriate, hands-on treatment can begin in the same session. By the end of your appointment, you will leave with:

Above all, you will understand what is happening and what needs to happen next.

You Will Leave With

  • A clear diagnosis
  • An explanation of the likely cause of your problem
  • An understanding of your recovery timeframe
  • Agreed treatment goals
  • A personalised treatment plan

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I Need a GP Referral to See an Osteopath?

No. Most patients can book an osteopathy appointment directly without seeing a GP first. If you are using private health insurance, your provider may request a referral, so it is worth checking with them beforehand.

What Is the Difference Between Osteopathy and Physiotherapy?

Both are hands-on, evidence-informed approaches to musculoskeletal health, and there is considerable overlap between them. Osteopaths place particular emphasis on how the whole body is working together. Because we offer both at Bodylogics, we can guide you towards whichever is best suited to you, or combine the two where helpful.

Is Osteopathic Treatment Painful?

Treatment is tailored to you and carried out within a comfortable range. Some techniques may cause mild, temporary soreness afterwards, similar to after exercise, and your osteopath will always explain what to expect and check that you are comfortable throughout.

What Is Cranial Osteopathy?

Cranial osteopathy is a very gentle form of osteopathic treatment using light contact. It is a subtle approach that some patients find particularly suits them, and our team can advise whether it may be appropriate for you.

Can I Have Osteopathy During Pregnancy?

Yes. Our osteopaths have experience supporting patients through pregnancy, using gentle and appropriate techniques to help manage the aches and pains that often accompany this time. We will always tailor treatment to your stage of pregnancy and individual needs.
