Many people ask what the difference is between a Sports Therapist and a Physiotherapist. Ultimately a Sports Therapist is a trained healthcare practitioner who is equipped with the necessary skills to help rehabilitate and enable an athlete to return to sport in the shortest time possible by using a wide range of techniques to increase the speed of recovery. These techniques combine skills commonly found in Physiotherapy and Osteopathy in order to bring about fast changes. A Sports Therapist would usually deal with specific sporting injuries, however, Sports Therapists are equipped to deal with any type of injury/pain as a result of the the training they undertake. At Bodylogics, our specialist Sport Therapists are trained to diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions. Committed to helping you achieve your goals, we will work closely with you through the entire rehabilitation process to ensure they are met, whatever your challenge may be.
At Bodylogics you can expect the highest level of care and attention to your problems. You can then expect treatment to begin straight away. Treatment will usually consist of Sports Massage, strengthening exercises, joint mobilisations (please note that this is not the same as Manipulations where you may hear cracks/clicks, etc… Mobilisations are designed to encourage greater movement), Dry Needling and Sports Taping if deemed necessary.
At Bodylogics we place a huge emphasis on client education and ensuring that everyone leave’s feeling empowered to take ownership of their diagnosis and work towards restoring normal functional movement. We take pride in our work and treat every client the same. Your health and goals are important to us and we will work with you to ensure you reach them. Regular Sports Therapy sessions are important for general maintenance of your body and should be included in any training programme as part of your recovery to ensure you stay injury free.
After your initial consultation you will have a series of follow up appointments which will last either 90, 60, 45 or 30 minutes, dependent upon your condition, and are designed to enable us to track your progress, offer suggestions for development and ensure you are on the correct pathway to full recovery.
Following on from your initial consultation and subsequent follow up appointments, your next step would be to see our Specialist trained Injury Rehabilitation Therapists. Their skills and experience extend beyond that of a clinical setting and work directly with you in helping you to achieve optimal functionality. At Bodylogics we have exclusive access to state of the art gym equipment which can be used to design an individualised Injury Rehabilitation programme specific to your needs. Please see our Injury Rehabilitation Department for more information.
If you would like to discuss if we can help you with your problem, you are very welcome to call for a free telephone consultation to talk in confidence with a Sports Therapist. We will advise you if Sports Therapy or another form of management would be most appropriate.
We look forward to welcoming you to Bodylogics in the near future.
