Arthritis Treatment London - treating arthritis successfully

Contrary to popular belief, exercise is actually very good for those suffering from arthritis.  Exercise not only helps build strength and flexibility (which is crucial for supple joints and supporting the joint), it can also help to reduce pain.  It may be hard to take on board and overcome this belief because you may already be in a position where exercise creates pain, but knowing what you can do to help it is vital to the first stage of your rehab. In fact, a lack of exercise can actually INCREASE the pain you feel in your joints.

    Our Approach to Care

    What is Arthritis?

Arthritis is formed by degenerative changes to the bones.  Without going into too much detail, you cannot unfortunately reverse these changes.  However, you CAN slow the process down.

You have probably felt your joints being stiff and immobile before? This is often caused by a stagnation of fluid which, once moved, flushes out and the pain then eases off.  Think about your day to day experiences, you most likely wake up in the morning feeling stiff and aching, but once you start moving around the stiffness eases off?  This is the action of moving fluids from one place to another.  Then as the day goes on the stiffness and pain may return?  This is most likely due to the supporting structures not doing their job to help with the joint.  Either way, we are confident that at Bodylogics our Team of Healthcare professionals can help you reduce your pain and lead a better and happier life.

Why choose Bodylogics for your Arthritis care in North London?

At Bodylogics, we consider ourselves specialists in injury rehabilitation and pain management.  We feel we are able to state this based on our continued successful treatment of over 500 patients per month.  Amongst these numbers, we see a large number of those suffering from arthritis, whether that be in the hips, knees, ankle, wrist or even the spine area.

Our expertise lie in the way we treat.  We work with you so you can understand exactly what is happening at your joints and what you can do to manage it appropriately.  We are honest and straight to the point.  In some instances, no amount of conservative care can help.  This is just a fact of life unfortunately.  This is where we would discuss with you the prospect of surgical intervention.

Leaders in arthritic care North London

Arthritis can be categorised into 5 different stages. When you are working in stage 1 through to 3 then your chances of being successful in conservative management are high.  This bodes well for the vast majority of us as it means surgery can be avoided and only considered if the joint area deteriorates quickly.

Our Arthritis specialist care Team is on hand to help

The Bodylogics team has a wealth of experience in treating and caring for those with arthritis.  We understand the pathology and work with you to make sure you understand exactly what is happening and why you may have pain or restricted ROM.  We then use this base to build a successful management programme, often alongside your GP and any other healthcare professionals within your life and who may be helping you manage this condition.

Can I get an MRI scan or X-Ray?

At Bodylogics, we work closely with our chosen MRI provider.  This is not included in our standard costs but we can arrange for you to have scans taken if it is in line with the medical needs.  This is a conversation that can take place with your therapist during your consultation.

Once your scan is returned to us with the report we will then speak with you to decide the best management for you.  In some cases we may suggest that surgical intervention is required but it would be rare for us to do this without having attempted some form of conservative treatment beforehand.  It is worth noting here too that most of our affiliated surgeons will recommend conservative care as the first line of treatment and we are able to provide them with all the notes from our sessions should they be required.

Who would carry out my surgery?

At Bodylogics, we work very closely with a wide range of orthopaedic surgeons, but this does not mean we would ever dictate who your surgeon would be.  It is important that you feel comfortable and confident with your choice and we can help with guidance on this, but ultimately the choice lies with you.

Once you have chosen your preferred surgeon, we will work with you to design a pre-habilitation programme which gives you the greatest chance of recovery after.  It is super important to note that surgery is just the first step to recovery.  It is a common misconception that surgery, in isolation, will solve the issue.  Surgery makes up about 10-15% of the chances of success.  What you do after will have a huge part to play in your outcome.
