What are the best recovery methods after completing a half marathon?

??‍♂️? HALF MARATHON RECOVERY ???‍♀️

With many of our clients competing in half marathons in the coming weeks, we felt a post on recovery from these was due ??.

A recent (2018) study considered the impact of 3 main muscle recovery strategies following a strenuous half marathon. Subjects completed each method 24hrs after competition and noted the following results;

✅ massage was beneficial for recovery. ✅ cold water immersion was beneficial for recovery.

❌ active recovery was deemed DISADVANTAGEOUS‼️
❌ passive recovery

? The authors did note though that of significant importance was “runners must be aware that neither the use of active recovery nor cold water immersion or massage had any beneficial effect on objective fatigue markers.
