The Benefits of Osteopathy at Bodylogics

Osteopath’s treat many different types of issues related to the body and our first task is to take a full medical and health check to determine what the cause of your symptoms are.  Once we have established this treatment can begin.  We will always gain the consent of the individual before commencing any treatment.  All our treatments are 100% safe and only ever carried out by qualified individuals.  And contrary to beliefs, not all treatments involve ‘clicking’ backs; a lot of symptoms can be eased off with very gentle mobilisations.  You just need to know what you are doing first!

At Bodylogic’s, not only will our Osteopath Department treat the sight of injury or pain but we will also aim to identify where the cause of your symptoms are and find ways in which we can ensure they do not return in the future.  It is this approach, where we put the patient first, which has led to us becoming one of the leading Sports Therapy Clinic’s in North London.  As a Clinic we stay up to date with the latest advice and guidance on the treatment of a number of issues.  An example is here in the NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) Guidlines which show the recommendations for lower back pain and Sciatica issues in adults over the age of 16 click here to be taken to the NICE official website.  We will always be honest with you and only ever carry our treatments which match your needs.

The Physiological Effects of Osteopathy

Effects on the Skeletal System

The Skeletal System refers to the bones in your body. Your muscles are all attached to bones. Regular Osteopathy treatment can help increase joint mobility by working on tight ligaments that may have become strained and tight as a result of poor muscle functioning or from previous injury.  As a result it can help to restore range of motion to stiff joints.  Osteopathy can improve posture which may have become poor due to the amount of time spent at a computer screen at work.

Effects on the back

Osteopathy is often involved in the treatment of back pain.  Although not limited to this, it is a common request for treatment.  By using gentle and subtle manipulations, Osteopaths can ease tension on surrounding muscles and joints and therefore reduce the symptoms of lower back pain.  Painful and aching backs are usually a result of conditions with the spine and then the resulting muscle spasm that occurs to protect you from doing further damage.

Effects on Sleep

Regular Osteopathy treatments have been shown to reduce sleepless nights and insomnia . These issues usually result from chronic pain caused by issues with the spinal column or other joints within the body.

Effects on the Lymphatic and other Body System’s

Osteopathy has been shown to impact on the Lymphatic System, as well as the Nervous System and Circulatory System.  This article here from the Journal of the American Osteopathic Association shows evidence of these effects of the Lymphatic System.  Your Lymphatic System is crucial for maintaining good health and being able to fight off infection.
