The Bodylogics Journey – from humble beginnings to multi-disciplinary Team.

Blog written by Alison Dodd, Clinic Director and Senior Consultant at Bodylogics The Sports Therapy Clinic.

As we move into our new Clinic location in New Barnet, I feel it’s a good time to reflect on Bodylogics’ journey from its small beginnings in 2008 as a one therapist set-up to its now multi-function team offering a wide range of treatments for all our clients including Physiotherapy, Osteopathy, Injury Rehabilitation and much more.

Working in Human Resources for many years, I decided on a complete career change and eventually qualified as a Sports Massage Therapist in September 2008.  I was lucky enough to meet some great contacts on my course at the end of which I was asked to join a support team for a charity event whereby 32 cyclists would embark on probably one of the most difficult challenges of their lives. The event started in Biarritz and involved a week long, 100kms a day cycle ride across the Pyrenees finishing in Perpignan.  They had all clearly trained for several months but I think there were times where nothing could have prepared them for the task ahead.  As part of the support team, I had the easy job of travelling alongside them (in a van!) and treating injuries on route and in the evening as well as maintenance work to aid their recovery.  I have to admit it was a bit daunting to start off with as I had literally just qualified and my life as a therapist had only just started.  However, being part of a great team gave me the experience, knowledge and confidence needed to start the Bodylogics therapy clinic on my return.

During our first year trading as Bodylogics, I was approached by a TV company who were launching a new show called “The Biggest Loser”.  They were looking for therapists to join them on the show to help treat the contestants each week who were working very hard in a controlled boot-camp environment with the ultimate goal being to lose weight.  Again this was a completely new challenge for me but we were able to supply a team of therapists to travel up to Leicester each week who all very much enjoyed being part of the support team.

Bodylogics’ success continued over the next few years and we were able to take on more therapists as our client based grew.  We now enter an exciting new era as we hand the reins over to Jason whose constant passion, hard work and commitment will take the business forward as he continues to develop his vision for the future.

As we move forward I will still be playing a key part in the development of Bodylogics.  As Clinic Director it is vital that we keep the main values that we have had from the start and continue to put the needs of all our clients first.  Our ethos has always been built on honesty and ensuring our clients receive the best possible service in the best environment available.  We place a huge emphasis on making sure we are contactable and approachable all at the same time and that our clients feel empowered to ask us any questions they may have, no matter how trivial they may be.  Bodylogics was created out of a passion for wanting to help people and I want to make sure it always remains this way which I have no doubt it will.
